Rachel joined the DMEC staff in 2008. She came to DMEC with a Bachelors of Science Political Science and minor in Economics from Minnesota State University. She leads DMEC’s webinar program and assists with the Associations technology innovation efforts, including web site and on-line social networking tools. With her experience and knowledge of Association services, and her ability to communicate the value of membership she instinctively assesses the needs of employers, linking them to the resources that help advance workplace success. With 10 years of administrative support experience, she provides support to the professional staff and maintains DMEC’s extensive membership database. She also maintains the Association's webinar library of over 50 selections on managing absence and disability, health and productivity and new FMLA regulations.

Marcia Carruthers

Marcia Carruthers currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer/President. One of the cofounders of the organization, she has assisted in the development of 20 chapters in the US since 1992. She is responsible for strategic direction, sponsorship development, industry partnerships, advanced educational forums and publications.
Prior to her leadership role in DMEC, she was Director of Product Development and Marketing for Integrated Insights; Disability Manager, Rohr Aerospace (a division of B.F. Goodrich); and Assistant Risk Manager, University of California, San Diego.
Marcia holds an MBA (Finance) from the University of San Diego; a BA from the University of California, San Diego; a Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM) designation; and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from the Insurance Educational Association.
She is the author of a number of industry journal articles, white papers, and several books on disability and absence management. An enthusiastic proponent of benefits integration and behavioral risk management, Marcia has spoken extensively at industry conferences both nationally and internationally.

Charlie is the newest member of the DMEC, joining the team in November 2010. As Executive Director, Charlie is responsible for the operations, finance, external relationship development and continuing vision of the organization. His expertise includes 20 years of executive association experience and legal specialization in the area of employment law.

Lisa joined the DMEC family in 2006 as Conference Coordinator, becoming Director of Conference and Education in the fall of 2008. Her primary responsibilities are focused on the development of both the summer Annual Conference and spring Behavioral Risk in the Workplace Conference, from program development and event management to exhibitor and sponsorship sales. Lisa is also DMEC’s “go to” person for advertising placement in @Work magazine and coordinated CEU processes and approvals for DMEC meetings throughout the year.

Sharon Milligan

Sharon joined DMEC in the fall of 2007 as the liaison between DMEC chapters and the national association. She provides board leadership, support and training to new and returning board volunteers, administrative support in the promotion of chapter events, as well as the development and dissemination of online procedures and resources. In addition, she is integral in the development of new regional chapters throughout the US. Sharon’s strong customer service and communication skills were developed through 10 years in the educational fundraising arena where she worked closely with donors and volunteers through the planning and promotion of events, newsletters and fulfillment of annual goals. She has been a member of several professional associations, Toastmasters International, and holds a B.A. Degree from Bethel University in Organizational Studies.

In 2004 Donald joined the DMEC staff. Donald graduated from Coleman University in San Diego, California with a BS in Computer Science, and an emphasis in databases. He currently manages the DMEC database, financial transactions, and new technologies.

JoAnne Spitale joined the DMEC family in December 2009. As Conference and Membership Services Specialist, JoAnne contributes to the successful planning, implementation, and evaluation of DMEC conferences by providing administrative support to the DMEC Director of Conferences and Education. JoAnne also contributes to new member development and retention by providing administrative support in research, mailing, and follow up for the DMEC Membership and Marketing Manager.
