Chet Miller Leadership Award
The Chet Miller Leadership Award is given to the DMEC member who best demonstrates the professionalism that Chet applied every day to his work for DMEC as well as in the field of disability management.

Background
Prior to his untimely death in October 2001, Chet Miller was the President of the Chicago Chapter of the Disability Management Employer Coalition. Chet was a very enthusiastic and dedicated member who consistently participated in all aspects of the Chapter. Chet was influential in the rapid growth of the Chapter and through his leadership the Chapter gained prominence in providing education and networking for both large and small organizations throughout the Chicago area.
DMEC National, and the current board of the Chicago Chapter, wanted to formally recognize Chet for his outstanding contributions, both personally and professionally, through the creation of a national award. This award will be presented at the annual conference each year and will commemorate as well as demonstrate the profound effect that Chet had on all of us through his friendship, leadership and courage.
Purpose
The Chet Miller Leadership Award will be given to the DMEC member who best demonstrates the professionalism that Chet applied everyday to his work for the DMEC as well as in the field of disability management. This award will recognize one individual each year that best meets the leadership criteria that Chet epitomized.
Criteria
The nominee for the award shall demonstrate the following characteristics that Chet possessed as an active member of the DMEC:

E: Enthusiastic
T: Team Worker
M: Mentoring
I: Initiative
L: Leadership
L: Loyalty
E: Enterprising
R: Resourcefulness
Eligibility
- Current membership in the DMEC
- Active participation in the field of Disability Management
- A Completed Award Nomination Form
Judging
The DMEC Board of Directors will judge all nominations and select a recipient. All entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- The nominees current level of active participation with the DMEC
- The nominees current contributions within the field of Disability Management
- Evidence that the nominee possesses many of the leadership characteristics that Chet epitomized
The Award
The Chet Miller Leadership Award will be presented at the National Conference each year. The award will consist of:
- A Congratulatory Letter from the DMEC National President
- A personal plaque commemorating the Award
- $250 Honorarium
- An annual plaque commemorating each year’s recipient to be displayed at the Annual International Conference
- Recognition in DMEC National Publication(s)
Submission Procedure
Any current member that meets the eligibility requirements can be nominated for the award. Any current DMEC member can submit the nomination form. The nomination form including a narrative, not to exceed 1000 words, is to be completed and submitted along with any appropriate documentation or supporting evidence by the posted deadline.
